The Vandegrift Family Foundation continues the memory of Lt. Matthew Vandegrift and his father John Dutch Vandegrift by accomplishing their wishes to have five (currently funded three), four-year endowed scholarships ($5000/year for 4 years-each recipient= $20,000) for students of Vandegrift High School (VHS) to attend Texas A&M University. These scholarships are:

Drs. Nimmi & John J. Thoppil '97-1st Lt. Matthew R. Vandegrift '03 Memorial Scholarship-To be awarded in the Spring of 2025 for a Texas A&M freshman (College of Arts & Sciences) starting Fall 2025.

Lt. Matthew Vandegrift Memorial Mays Business Honors School Scholarship-To be awarded in the Spring of 2026 for a Texas A&M freshman starting Fall 2026.

Lt. Matthew Vandegrift Memorial Corps of Cadets Scholarship-To be awarded in the Spring of 2028 for a Texas A&M freshman starting Fall 2028.

*Our first two scholarships above are fully funded and have already sent six students to TAMU over the past ten years. Our third Medical Studies Scholarship is new and will be funded for a 2025 Texas A&M freshman. We hope you can join us in funding the two newer scholarship programs, so we can continue to send additional worthy students on to enjoy their higher education experience.
