*Lt. Matthew Vandegrift ‘Second To None’ Scholarship
*Not yet funded, but working to add at a future date
*Our first two scholarships above are fully funded and have already sent six students to TAMU over the past ten years. Our third Medical Studies Scholarship is new and will be funded for a 2025 Texas A&M freshman. We hope you can join us in funding the two newer scholarship programs, so we can continue to send additional worthy students on to enjoy their higher education experience. These 2 scholarships are to be awarded to Vandegrift High School students who have been selected as ‘Second To None’ recipients while at VHS and intend to go to Texas A&M University. Please help us make their dream a reality

Please help a Vandegrift student with these 2 new scholarships:
What exactly is a “2nd to None” Student? Matthew Vandegrift’s Marine Crest had “2nd to None” in Latin on the bottom ribbon. You can see this on our crest. This also became our school motto. Especially interesting, the crest has 5 stars, and we are the 5th high school. So, since we opened, we have had each program in the school have the students in that program nominate a student for this honor. Essentially, they are saying that the selected student embodies the character, honor, and commitment that Matthew displayed. So, over the years, we have several hundred students that have gone forth in the world, and carry this honor with them. This has been a real source of comfort and pride for the Vandegrift family, as they see all of these fine young people carrying and representing the spirit of their son. These students are celebrated each year on the morning of Valor Day at a breakfast reception hosted by the Vandegrift family.
