Vandegrift High School was established in 2009, and had its first graduating class in 2012. It has been recognized as an academically rigorous and competitive school, and is ranked as one of Texas’ Best High Schools in both the 2014 and 2015 US News and World Report. Students in extracurricular clubs and UIL-sponsored activities have shown strong performances at regional, state, and national levels. UIL Lone Star Cup honors our students’ dedication in academics, athletics, and the arts.
AUSTIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE (ACC)
Dual Credit allows juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. These courses are used to satisfy the high school’s graduation requirements, “co-enrollment” if taken for college credit only, or “credit-in-escrow” if part of an approved Tech-Prep Articulation Agreement.
Along with 26 AP classes, Vandegrift High School (VHS) offers 17 Pre-AP courses. Topics include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Languages (French, Latin, Spanish), Technology Apps, and Art/Music Electives.

Modified Scale: 4.0 Regular Scale: 5.0 Pre-AP/AP: 6.0
Students receive additional weight in their grade point average for taking Pre-AP or AP courses. Students that qualify for special services may take classes for basic credit. Those courses will be on a modified scale. Students’ grades are reported numerically and not by letter grade. Our system has the ability to convert our weighted numeric grades into a 4.0 scale. In our system, a 4.0 scale coverts to:
90-100 A 4.0 80-89 B 3.0 70-79 C 2.0 69 or below F 0.0
